WordPress for Beginners:  How to Prioritize

In examining the above 8 key reasons for developing your blog, you may wonder WHERE to begin?  Which are most important to include right from the beginning – right from the very 1st post?  Well, in all honesty, I’d say it’s IMPORTANT to develop  a loyal following .. but this is not something you HAVE to know how to do from Day 1  (you should realize, it’s a Talent you develop).

Instead, I’d say that these are imperative:

  • Get your message across
  • Provide relevant external links
  • BLOG Branding
  • Get Your Reader to Join your List
  • Video Blogging

One reason using video within your first blog is good to do, is because it’s far easier to

RANK high on Google machine

Google owns youtube, so that gives you a CLUE.   Also, you can connect better with people when you use both video AND words.  People can perceive your tone (and Intent) when you do video messaging. I had to force myself to start to use it.  You can find a way !

The reason why providing relevant external links is so IMPORTANT is for your readers’ benefit.  And not only that – the search engines, such as Google and Bing (the Big 2) will reward you for it.  Don’t be hesitant, or afraid, to LINK OUT  to Authority blogs.

Try to investigate the blogs first, before hooking your blog up to theirs.  (Use either Traffic travis, or Market Samurai, or Seobook.com  to look at page rank (PR), number of .gov and .edu links the blog has, how OLD it is, and whether it’s listed in DMOZ or Yahoo).   Also:  Referring Domains

Once you’ve verified the validity of the domain and the respectability of the BLOG, you can proceed – seek out opportunities to be a “guest poster”, or blog commenter.  When you begin to put in the time commenting at other blogs in your chosen niche, and seek out opportunities as a writer/guest poster you’ll see good results.       Blogging Training with Jan Ashby

One thing I like to do to examine BLOGS – google them, and see if there’s any SPAM complaints or extremely negative reviews  – in forums such as WAHM, Warrior Forum or Glass Door (which provides great feedback about a company and its website).

Also, you can look at a company & its directors (and managers) at Linkedin.com .   You can find out about reputation, kudos the director (or manager) may have received, accomplishments, awards, philanthropic work etc.
