What is The Best Blog to Use? Comparing Blogging Platforms
– By Jan Ashby
What is the best blog to use, in terms of blogging platforms? Is it Moveable Type, WordPress, SquareSpace, Tumblr?
Well, only you can decide that. It depends on your goals for your blog, and what its purpose is. Do you intend to use it for business? Is it to be used commercially, or for a charity? Or will it be strictly for personal use?
You must know the purpose of your blog. Lay out some goals.
In terms of comparing
BLOGGING PLATFORMS
I have an excellent article that lays it all out for you – so I will refer you HERE .
Make an Outline of Your Blog for a Good Business Blog
There are various elements to your blog. You will need to choose the theme of your blog, the color (both background and color of text), and whether your blog will feature video or audio; also what will your use of IMAGES be? There are MANY important decisions to weigh and consider, in order to have a good business blog.
Will your images be black and white or color? What will your linking policy be? Will you have a blogroll?
How about the layout and navigation – do you want the navigation to be “one-level”, or more than one?
Will your front page be static, or feature a blog? RSS?
As you can see, there are many decisions to be made – it is important to have your goals written down, and a visual representation of your blog. You can use mindmapping software for this (as shown ABOVE)
Then you need to work on some other things, as described in my Life Skills article here (Driving traffic, etc.), before you perform monetization on your blog. You might even go so far as to do a business plan. Here are 3 articles on developing a business plan:
- Ehow.com: Write a small business plan
- Ehow.com: How to Write a Business Plan
- How to Develop a Business Plan: Necessary Steps
Be sure to check out the “Tips and Warnings” section within each Ehow.com article above. They can be quite useful.
(Consult with a business adviser as necessary)
I hope I have helped you get some fresh ideas of what you can do with a blog, and the various blogging platforms you can use. 😛 There truly is a good variety, and you should be able to find something which suits your needs – whether the blog is for business, pleasure, or to help out a charitable organization.
To Your Great Success,
Jan Ashby
